American Idol Season 9 Top 9 (Redux) Studio Recording Review

- Crystal Bowersox (gosh, this is definitely one of her best recording yet. Her voice is crystal clear and with this catchy song,it completely won me over. If she record an album, she should release a song like this, with up tempo beat)
- Andrew Garcia (another boring recording from Andrew. I just can't picture anyone other than Andrew fanatic fans buying this song)
- Tim Urban (hmm for me,it's boring. Tim's recording voice is so boring. He has nice voice, but something about his voice bores me. However, this is a good song. At least, better than some of his recording. Btw I don't like the last part.)
- Lee Dewyze (ehh,I'm surprised that this particular Lee recording is very rock-ish. Nice arrangement,me think)
- Aaron Kelly (too slow of an arrangement in the beginning,I prefer the live version. Still love the breakdown though. Nice vocal as always)
- Siobhan Magnus (completely boring. I'm shocked!! I just don't care with this recording. Sigh)
- Michael Lynche (nice recording, unfortunately not my cup of tea. Mike could have a good career on R&B music industry though)
- Katie Stevens (great vocal, very rock soul arrangement, what not to love in this recording. I LOVE IT!!! Too bad she gone too soon, after all she already hit her stride in this competition)
- Casey James (Casey surely has great blues country recording voice, nice recording)

The best recording this week: Crystal Bowersox,Katie Stevens

American Idol Season 9 Top 9 (Redux) Result Show

Geez, the kids are lip-synching again. Even a tree could see that their lip-synching. It's so bad!! I don't enjoy this at all.

Andrew Garcia goes home. Aaron is safe. Yes!!! Even his sing out is so boring and karaoke.

Justin Gaston CAN'T SING at all. Period. I feel bad for Brooke White, she had to harmonize with him. Brooke seems frustrated by this no good boy.

Elliot and Kara were in Africa. Kara always looks beautiful even with no makeup on.

Adam Lambert's performance like in another dimension. The laser and all, majestic!! I love the beginning part only though.

Katie Stevens goes home!! Oh noooooo!! She already making a comeback and yet the voters don't seem to love her.

Next week theme is inspirational songs. With Alicia Keys as a mentor. I wonder how that will pan out.

American Idol Season 9 Top 9 Performances (Elvis Week)

I was afraid of this week since I'm not a fan of Elvis, and they're pimping Adam Lambert again as a mentor. Btw please stop the gay jokes,Ryan!!

- Crystal Bowersox (okay, she had fun. I had fun watching her performance. She managed to make it not karaoke-ish,but I felt a lack in her emotional connection with that song. Maybe it's lost in the bandzilla and all that loud noises)
- Andrew Garcia (oh Andrew, please go home!!I can't stand it anymore. Although it wasn't awful, but it's mediocre karaoke on every level. He's just lost his ability and became this useless contestant)
- Tim Urban (woah he just continues to rise up to the occasion. I love this performance. Wasn't boring at all. It's just beautiful. He forgot or didn't want to hit that falsetto though, that Adam suggested for him to do. LOL)
- Lee Dewyze (love his confidence & his raspy raw voice was in full blown. The best I've ever heard from him. Still looked nervous & hasn't loosen up more. That's my only criticism.)
- Aaron Kelly (OMG!!When Aaron growled in his mentoring session, that's spectacular. That what made me his fan in the first place. He should do it more often & show that part of his voice. His performance was good at first & picked up the steam in the end with that change in the arrangement. I saw his confidence in the end. Love it!! I love the second half of the arrangement. I didn't hear that amazing growl though. He has major potential and I think he hasn't fully used it)
- Siobhan Magnus (nice vocal at the first half & she switched it up and blew me away with the 2nd half. Completely new arrangement at that part. She blasted her amazing pipe. She hold back her voice in order to not scream like a banshee again. I love it!! Good job on the vocal delivery and control)
- Michael Lynche (I didn't feel that like an Elvis song,it's like brand new song. His vocal is always perfect, and Michael never does an awful performance. I've to give it to him. However, his singing style and genre isn't exactly what I love)
- Katie Stevens (Yippie!! Gosh, this is Katie that I loved from the audition. Superb vocal!! She had sass in her performance, and heck yes she brought the house down. Katie is back!! And I hope the voters will vote for her)
- Casey James (pretty good, reminded me of his Hollywood week's performance. Please no more mosh pit swaybot!!)

Adam Lambert did a fantastic job. He completely impressed me with his mentoring ability. Can we get him to mentor every weeks???

My rank:
1. Katie Stevens
2. Aaron Kelly
3. Siobhan Magnus
4. Tim Urban
5. Crystal Bowersox
6. Casey James
7. Michael Lynche
8. Lee Dwyze
9. Andrew Garcia

American Idol Season 9 Top 9 Studio Recording Review

- Aaron Kelly (woah, nice tone and obviously a massive improvement from his performance. Still not as good as David Archuleta's recording but a pretty good recording, and I might play this one over and over again in the long run)
- Katie Stevens (another one of pretty good recording, love her voice, love the arrangement, the way they showcase her vocal is spot on. Her higher register is amazing and she should do that often in the live stage)
- Andrew Garcia (well,at least it's much better than his awful performance. Not as boring and banal as that. He has more vocal acrobatic (not much) and the band is better)
- Michael Lynche (very loungey recording,so Mike fooled everybody to buy his pathetic recording)
- Crystal Bowersox (it's good but I don't feel that raw energy and vibe like from her live performance. Dunno why)
- Tim Urban (oh God,the opening note surely can make all the tweens girl fawning over him,but the rest of the recording is just okay. Tim still bores me with his recording)
- Casey James (beautiful vocal, heartfelt delivery, everything is perfect,a fantastic recording)
- Siobhan Magnus (lovely vocal from Siobhan, she's capable to sing anything beautifully as long as she watch out her vocal and control it from running all over the place. I like the background music too)
- Lee Dwyze (I always can't recognize Lee's recording voice,it's completely different with his live pitchy vocal. Hmm good recording though. And of course he avoid singing that high notes. EPIC FAIL,Lee!!!)

The best recording this week: Casey James,Siobhan Magnus,Aaron Kelly,Katie Stevens

American Idol Season 9 Top 9 Performances (Lennon McCartney Songbook)

First,I love the introduction clip that has all the contestants saying what their opinion about a certain person. Btw I spotted Lacey Brown!!

- Aaron Kelly (oh no,David Archuleta completely owned this rendition back in Season 7. Aaron just fell flat. He didn't have any conviction at all,and his voice sounded very pitchy and the goaty vibrato wasn't nice. Just no,Aaron!)
- Katie Stevens (woah, her vocal was amazing! No pitchy notes at all like before. She sang like she meant every words. I think she did the song justice)
- Andrew Garcia (banal,boring,karaoke-ish,cheesy. Just all kind of wrong. A big step in the wrong direction for Andrew. I want him out of the competition soon if he's continuing this disastrous step)
- Michael Lynche (hmm David Cook did a pretty good rock version of this song. Mike did okay with his own arrangement. I'd say it's pretty good with all that violins and once again his outstanding vocal)
- Crystal Bowersox (the first half of the song was okay,I loved that bong's sound though. It gave another new sound for a song that's been done many times on Idol. The 2nd half of the song was fantastic, with her singing in higher register and hitting all those high notes. I love that part of her voice. Pretty lovely. I'm liking Crystal's personality too,not as cold as her beginning run on Idol)
- Tim Urban (holy moly,Tim did great! That's good! I'm tired of his mediocre and awful performances so far. So I'm glad that he stepped it up tonight. Good vocal, amazing arrangement that fit his vocal & musical style. I love it)
- Casey James (OMG! That was in different league from the others. Really heartfelt, his accoustic guitar strumming touched my heart & my inner soul. His rendition gave me goosebumps all over my body. Arguably one of the showstopper from this season)
- Siobhan Magnus (pretty boring but still unique. She sang it with full conviction. I liked that. Not over the top banshee's scream again. I liked this restrained Siobhan. Still very nasally as my younger brother put it. Her dress is spectacular. I love it.)
- Lee Dwyze (okay performance, love his confidence that's growing every weeks, and WTF with that bag pipe player??

Overall, pretty good night. Although please don't sing a song that's been covered by Idol alumni in the past. I can't shake the comparison in my mind.

My rank:
1. Casey James
2. Crystal Bowersox
3. Katie Stevens
4. Tim Urban
5. Michael Lynche
6. Siobhan Magnus
7. Aaron Kelly
8. Lee Dwyze
9. Andrew Garcia

American Idol Season 9 Top 11 Performances (Billboard #1 Hits)

- Lee Dwyze (he is way out of tempo and he's singing like Tarzan's screaming aueoooo aueoooo on every end notes, plus awkward stage movement. His worst performance to date)
- Paige Miles (uh oh very pitchy, the arrangement is weird, her voice is all over the place. The transition from low register to her high register is unpleasant. Her worst performance definitely.)
WTF happened this week???And the next song choice is Queen??WTF??
- Tim Urban (urgh very karaoke,so uncomfortable. I want him to get eliminated soon. I don't have the energy to watch more of his performances in the future.)
- Aaron Kelly (perfect song choice for him although the song's already been done to death on Idol. I prefer Allison's version though. Aaron performed it really well. Still awkward with his hip swinging. Umm why's he wearing lip gloss??)
- Crystal Bowersox (watching Crystal is like watching a pro musician performs. No criticism at all from me. The song isn't my taste though.)
- Michael Lynche (great vocal, great performance,it's astonishing how good he is compared to other karaoke-ish contestants. He really knows his musical identity which is soul R&B)
- Andrew Garcia (why they chose overdone song & oldies songs???I'm gonna puke over the song selection. Andrew is stiff, awkward, has lost his mojo,he's not a frontrunner anymore and I don't think he can rebound at all. This performance is very karaoke-ish. And is he drunk??)
- Katie Stevens (the best song choice of the night, this is definitely what she should sing. A song like this which allow her vocal to shine through and very current. Her best performance to date)
- Casey James (Casey is like Crystal, already a solid performer. I don't hold my breath when I watch him performing if he flounder or not. He gave a solid good performance. I dunno about the song though.)
- Didi Benami (I disagree with the judges although I can see why they said she was playing a character, but she's better than most of the contestants tonight. I love the musical vibe of this performance)
- Siobhan Magnus (just okay performance, she didn't hit that high notes well. I'm afraid it's getting old with this pattern)

I don't get it,why the hell tonight is like this?? So awful, the song choices is like Motown Week. Why can't they pick a current song??

My rank:
1. Crystal Bowersox
2. Aaron Kelly
3. Katie Stevens
4. Michael Lynche
5. Siobhan Magnus
6. Didi Benami
7. Casey James
8. Lee Dwyze
9. Tim Urban
10. Paige Miles
11. Andrew Garcia

American Idol Season 9 Top 16 Girls Performances

Okay,I was upset that tonight's show was only 1 hour when I found out about that. Until I watched it... Here it is:

- Katie Stevens (I must disagree with the judges. For once,I loved her song choice. I liked this performance. My problem with her was she didn't have any spots in the song to showcase her powerful voice. With only around 1 minute performance,it's impossible to build the momentum within the song. But she improved tonight.)
- Siobhan Magnus (she's stepping up her game every week. Brilliant acapella at the beginning. She' no longer a darkhorse for me. She's a contender in this race for sure.)
- Lacey Brown (OMG!!OMG!!I loved this performance. Her best performance so far and one of the best performance from all the contestants these 3 weeks. I loved how heart wrenching the performance was and the connection. Her beautiful voice is showcased on every lyrics. Great job!!)
- Katelyn Epperly (the hell with the judges!! I enjoyed this performance. Last week she bored me to death with her slower Scientist performance. This week, she showed her fun personality. I hope she advances to the Top 12)
- Didi Benami (she's back!! The accoustic singer songwriter Didi that everyone loved is back. She performed the heck out of that song although her facial expression was too serious in some parts of the song but overall great performance!!)
- Paige Miles (gloomy sad song in contrast with the lyrics, but Paige showed her vocal range with her song choice. I could see what Simon saw in her. Although maybe this is the end for her)
- Crystal Bowersox (I prefer Jordin Sparks or even Kristen McNamara's version of this song. Crystal is outstanding but when she performed this song choice,I couldn't shake Jordin & Kristen's rendition out of my head.)
- Lilly Scott (old song, but I liked this performance. She stood out from the pack because she picked this country song. She could do more to impress us though.)

Overall,a fantastic night for the girls. The best girls nights performances since Season 6 Top 24 Girls. I never thought they could do it. Two thumbs up for them. Now,the guys chance to impress me tomorrow.

My rank:
1. Lacey Brown
2. Didi Benami
3. Siobhan Magnus
4. Katelyn Epperly
5. Katie Stevens
6. Lilly Scott
7. Crystal Bowersox
8. Paige Miles

American Idol Season 9 Top 24 Announced

Once again,I don't get it why Idol cut some of the great contestants. Like Angela Martin today. She was definitely robbed big times!! Why didn't they give her a break?? She got the voice, she endures a lot in her life,I don't get it...I really really don't.

Janell Wheeler stumbled in Hollywood Week, many times. She makes it to the Top 24. I hope she impresses me next week.

I'm still meh about Tyler Graddy. I don't like his style, stage presence, etc. Just not my thing.

I like Lacey Brown's voice. She's different. I'm curious whether she could blow me away next week.

Crystal Bowersox is definitely a very strong girl contender. I have high expectation on her for next week. I hope I'm not gonna be disappointed.

Ashley Rodriquez,Alex Lambert,Michelle Delamor and Joe Munoz are definitely cannon fodder, but I want to see more from Joe Munoz.

Katie Stevens is one of my favorite since the beginning.

Ouch,Angela Martin. Watching this is killing me. I can't stand it watching her sad journey and history. Why oh why people like her doesn't get the break that she deserved!! It makes me feel ill.

Lilly Scott,great and unique voice.

Why they didn't show John Park's performances at all??I can't fathom it. I'm so sad for Paige Miles, she's the only one who doesn't get a single airtime of her performance. Probably eliminated next week if she doesn't perform a fantastic performance.

Can't wait for next week.

My ranking for the girls:
Katie Stevens
Crystal Bowersox
Lilly Scott
Didi Benami
Janell Wheeler
Haeley Vaughn
Lacey Brown
Siobhan Magnus
Ashley Rodriquez
Michelle Delamor
Katelyn Epperly
Paige Miles

My ranking for the boys:
Aaron Kelly
Casey James
Andrew Garcia
Joe Munoz
John Park
Todrick Hall
Tim Urban

American Idol Season 9 Hollywood Week Day 3+some of the Top 24 announced

First I want to say that Tasha Layton and Shelby Dressel should've gone to Top 24. I was heartbroken and so bummed that they were cut.

Angela Martin is awesome. I hope she advances through.

Jermaine Purifoy is very good. He's in room 2 so he got cut. WTH!!

Casey James had fantastic rendition on the 1st day. His Bubbly performance was very good.

What's wrong with Jermaine Sellers. He's getting worse every day. Too much melisma. Kara STFU!! When the band messed up,they should be told that they messed up and they're wrong!!

Siobhan Magnus, unique voice but her facial expression disturbs me.

OMG!!How awesome Crystal Bowersox!!She's so good!!Although she looks like she hasn't taken a bath for few days, but she's fantastic!!

Alex Lambert. I don't know why the judges are gunning for him if not for his voice only. Definitely raspy, unique and kinda have the same tone like Jason Mraz.

Michael Lynche was the 1st guy that go through to the Top 24. However,I've had enough of his airtime and the pimping. I'm tired of it. He has a nice voice, sure!! But I'm sick of his clips. I don't wanna see another montage of the baby and his wife.

Todrick Hall did awesome version of I'm Yours. Great!! I was surprised that he goes through to the Top 24 since he had criminal record/shady past and so many people hated him to death.

Thaddeus Johnson has swagger. I love his mom.

Charity Vance sang Gravity by Sara Bareilles. I love that song so much and I think she did a great job with it. I was sad that she got cut.

Tasha Layton performed The Scientist by Coldplay better than Kris Allen's rendition in Tampa,Florida. I love her since the audition and I'm speechless right now that she got cut. I can't see her perform on Top 24. Sigh.

Mary Powers butchered Hot and Cold, and she was in Room 2. Bye bye Mary!!

Lloyd Thomas sang an interesting version of Man In The Mirror.

Hope Johnson got cut too. Her Home performance was a trainwreck for me. I was right that her voice is too thin. I wondered why the show gave her a lot of airtime.

Shelby Dressel won me over on her audition. I love her so much and she knocked the song out of the park with her Hollywood Day 3 performance. Too bad that she didnt' go through to the Top 24 which Simon said it was the wrong decision. I agree!! I don't know if I'll like this season since Tasha and Shelby are gone, they both have great great potential. The judges are moron!!

At least Aaron Kelly advances to Top 24. His voice has great tone and quality in it,and I always support every young contestants on this show. I can't wait for his Top 24 performances.

Ashley Rodriquez. She's not bad but generic for me. I'm not interested with her at all.

Lee Dwyze. Not my type of singer although he has rocker voice.

Joe Munoz. I saw potential in his short clip.

Haeley Vaughn. I love her but she tends to go screechy and a lil bit annoying with her voice.

Janell Wheeler did a karaoke Love Story performance. Sigh.

Tori Kelly is very good. Lilly Scott still riding her momentum,Andrew Garcia could be the frontrunner. He's in different league with the others. Although I can't see myself buying his album.

Didi Benami did an okay Angel performance. Whew.

Katelyn Epperly. I'm not interested with her.

Jessica Furney. I felt so sad for her but she's rambling too much in front of the judges.

Why didn't they show John Park's performance??

My current rank:
1. Shelby Dressel (didn't go through to Top 24)
2. Tasha Layton (got cut)
3. Angela Martin
4. Casey James (Top 24)
5. Katie Stevens
6. Aaron Kelly (Top 24)
7. Lilly Scott
8. Charity Vance (got cut)
9. Crystal Bowersox
10. Didi Benami (Top 24)
11. Tori Kelly
12. Todrick Hall (Top 24)
13. Janell Wheeler
14. Jermaine Purifoy (got cut)
15. Haeley Vaughn

It feels like this season is all over the place,I don't have the exact choice for me personally. They are all good, this season might be like Season 5. With all the good contestants became fantastic in their own rights. I hope so.

American Idol Season 9 Hollywood Week Day 1

Woah,so many good people got cut,I'm shocked and some great performances.

- Katie Stevens (she's my pick from the audition, tonight her performance was very good although I wasn't blown away by it)
- Skii Bo Ski (awful performance, bye bye douche)
- Vanessa Wolfe (I was shocked that she got cut, although her performance was pretty bad.I don't know why they spent a lot of airtime on her. I thought she gonna make it to the Top 24 by looking at her airtime quota)
- Andrew Garcia (oh woah,so good!!Amazing performance. He could be like Kris Allen, the one who rearrange every song into his own.I can't wait for more of his performances)
- Maegan Wright (I was surprised she got cut,I think she's just okay)
- Janell Wheeler (the first performance from the girl that I was really listening to closely.Could be a contender)
- Haeley Vaughn (hahaha I love Taylor Swift's Change, she performed not as quite good as Taylor but she's very good,I like her)
- Mary Powers (very good!!Definitely the rocker for this year)
- Lilly Scott (spectacular performance, why didn't they show her from the audition day,it's shocking. She should've gotten more airtime.I was truly blown away by her sweet heartwarming vocal)
- Tim Urban (very cute guy,but meh)
- Justin Williams (sexy rendition, shocking that he got cut!!!Didn't expect that at all. I'm wondering why)
- Maddy Curtis (too old of a song, great voice though,I'm so sad that they cut her)
- Casey James (OMG!!Major improvement over his audition. I could support him if he pick the right song and sing it in this kind of bluesy style. Great job,Casey!!)
- Didi Benami (oh gosh,I love Terrified. Katharine McPhee has that track on her sophomore album, and Didi knocked it out of the park. The best performance of the night for me. I almost cried,it's so beautiful,it's gut wrenching. Major points for her)
- Crystal Bowersox (I got sucked in to her performance,I felt like I really watched a recording artist's concert.Great!!)
- Bosa Mora (bad bad performance, too bad!!)
- Joshua Blaylock (nooooooooooo!!!Too bad he got cut!!I wonder how his performance was)

Ellen first day was okay for me. She said too much of a joke. It's like watching Ellen Degeneres Show. I'm not so sure about that.

My rank of today's performance:
1. Didi Benami
2. Casey James
3. Lilly Scott
4. Andrew Garcia
5. Janell Wheeler
6. Crystal Bowersox
7. Katie Stevens
8. Haeley Vaughn
